The body wood is unstained swamp ash. The neck is stained with a very strong pot of Red Rose orange pekoe tea (an old wood worker's trick to make newer wood look older). The high gloss body finish consists of multiple coats of shellac, a pore-filler called Z-poxy, and a lacquer that is very similar to nitrocellulose but slightly more durable. The neck is finished similarly to a satin sheen.
