The Lunch Box Ukulele

The fingerboard is made from Lignum Vitae also know as ironwood which is the densest and heaviest wood on our planet. The neck is one piece of rock maple, with a Stewart Macdonald truss rod. The scale length is 19.103".

The strings are .036" to .013" tuned to D G B e.

The Neck pick-up (seen in the more recent photo on the bottom left) is a very cheap salvaged bass pick-up. Also installed is a piezo contact pick-up located roughly under the bridge on the treble side. A blend pot installed inside allows a good balance of the two pick-ups which can sound surprisingly fat and bluesy.

The whole 'body' being magnetically conductive results in a very well shielded instrument, althought acoustically, it can sound... 'tinny'.

This was originally intended to be built in time for the 2010 FanExpo in Toronto, ON, specifically to be signed by Peter Mahew, the actor that played Chewbacca. Although it was not completed for that time meeting Peter Mahew and getting signed Chewbacca was fun.
